Like a socialite of yesteryear, born abroad but deeply connected to Europe, the new Q60 made its European premiere at the Geneva International Motor Show, in advance of European availability as early as summer 2016. The Q60 represents a heightened example of Infiniti's "Powerful Elegance" design language, with taut, muscular lines and distinctive proportions. At the heart of the car is an all-new lightweight and sophisticated "VR30" 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, which plays a key role in the Q60's engaging yet refined drive experience.
The new engine, from the new and exclusive "VR" powertrain family, continues the brand's longstanding heritage of advanced six-cylinder powertrain production. This new V6 is available in two states of tune – either 300 hp or 400 hp – and has been engineered to offer superior levels of power and torque, coupled with high standards of efficiency. The Q60 Red Sport shown in Geneva features the higher-powered 400 hp V6 engine, which provides the car with one of the best power-to-efficiency ratings in the sports coupe class.
Power from the high-performance VR30 engine is delivered as standard through the Q60's rear wheels, although all-wheel drive is optional. The Q60 is also available with the company's second-generation Direct Adaptive Steering – comprehensively modified from the ground-breaking first-generation system – and Infiniti's new Dynamic Digital Suspension, which gives the sports coupe an optimal blend of ride comfort and class-leading response and agility.
So, let’s not let Geneva have all the fun. Europe is fine by us, but we’re much more excited for the car’s arrival in the Middle East. More on that as dates are announced.
