Cadillac appoints new MD to helm transformation in Middle East

Christian Soemmer has been appointed as Managing Director for Cadillac Middle East.

Soemmer is responsible for setting the luxury brand’s strategy and continuing its ambitious transformation plans across its 10 Middle East markets. He takes the reins from former Cadillac Middle East MD, Felix Weller who was appointed to the role of Vice President for Cadillac Europe earlier in the year.

Soemmer leads Cadillac after seven years with Audi Middle East, where he served most recently as Sales Director. The German national comes from an extensive sales and operational background in the premium automotive industry, having started his career with Daimler AG in Germany. Such experience is well suited to Cadillac’s ambitions as it continues a product offensive to more than double the number of models available in its lineup over the next five years.

“We are pleased to have someone of Christian’s caliber and expertise on board to lead Cadillac’s strong vision for this region,” said Mario A. Spangenberg, President and Managing Director for General Motors Africa and Middle East.

Over the last two years, Cadillac has undergone a significant shift in direction – using sophisticated design, technology and an authentic attitude to appeal to independently minded individuals. The brand recently announced a 12 billion dollar investment to support its global expansion plans.
