GMC Yukon celebrates 25 years of iconic power, luxury and performance

GMC’s Yukon, the full-size SUV, marks its silver anniversary this year, 25 years after it first rolled off the production line. The model line provides the capability, refinement, safety, performance, and connectivity discerning Middle East customers expect.

GMC Yukon has long been a feature on the region’s roads, distinguishing itself with bold exterior styling, a precision-crafted interior and more standard features designed to broaden the appeal of one of the industry’s most popular family of full-size SUVs. Yukon’s distinctive Denali models provide an exclusive collection of design, ‎performance and upscale interior amenities. ‎

Commenting on GMC Yukon, Sajed Sbeih, Head of Brand for GMC Middle East said: “For GMC, Yukon has played a key role in the Middle East, cementing our reputation for producing SUVs that make a powerful impression. With bold design and refined features, Yukon has an unmistakable presence on the roads.”

The first generation was launched in 1992 with a two-door body style, debuting four doors in 1995 and available with either two- or four-wheel drive. Unveiled in 2000, the second generation saw increased horsepower, torque and an updated body shape amongst other additions. The current model is largely based on its 2015 form, with Yukon holding fast to its traditional SUV values: uncompromising capability, power and size.

New features have also been introduced on the original 2018 Yukon, Yukon XL, Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models, including tire fill ‎alert as part of the tire pressure monitor and a new exterior color: Satin Steel Metallic. For the ‎Denali trim, a new dimensional grille is introduced and a new 10-speed ‎automatic transmission.

Designed and built by General Motors, the new 10-speed transmission features smaller steps between gears, compared to the previous eight-speed automatic, keeping the engine within the sweet spot of the rpm band to make the most of its horsepower and torque to optimize performance and efficiency.

The 2018 Yukon lineup includes a variety of features for greater functionality and refined details. Enhancing cargo capability and convenience, the model line has fold-flat second and third-row seats, with an available power folding feature. Other highlights include a power rear liftgate with multiple programmable height settings. For SLT and Denali trims, a hands-free liftgate operation comes as standard.

For the tech-focused Yukon driver, an eight-inch diagonal customizable driver display with three available user themes and head-up display is available in Denali models. Thinking of both drivers and passengers, updated inputs on the rear seat entertainment system provide a video voiceover feature benefitting visually and hearing impaired passengers.

GMC Yukon models are available across the Middle East from GMC distributors.
