Engine and Performance
Under the fresh sheet metal, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado debuted with a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine. The eight-cylinder mill delivers 420 hp at 5600 rpm and 624 Nm of torque at 4100 rpm.
Chevy mated the powerful engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission and adopted new Dynamic Fuel Management technology which actively shuts off cylinders to save on fuel when full power isn’t needed. While the entry-level trims of the 2022 Chevy Silverado come standard with rear-wheel drive, the Sealine Edition is only offered with a 4WD system.
The 2022 Silverado still uses a heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential that mechanically detects excess wheel spin and locks itself to power both rear wheels at the same speed.
The Trail Boss ZL1 variant can now tow up to 5,534 kg, and when it comes to payload, the special edition can carry up to 952 kg.
