Land Rover is celebrating the world premiere of the New Defender with a range of outdoor performance clothing in partnership with Musto and a highly detailed LEGO Technic model.
The LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender
The new LEGO Technic Land Rover Defender is an automotive icon you can build at home. Developed in partnership with Land Rover and launched alongside the New Defender at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the 2,573-piece model combines the boundless creativity of LEGO with New Defender’s instantly recognisable silhouette and unrivalled capability.
The LEGO Technic vehicle echoes New Defender with a host of realistic elements and functions, including authentic body panels and rims, four-wheel drive with three differentials, fully independent suspension, a working winch and LEGO Technic’s most sophisticated gearbox yet – all designed to provide an engrossing and rewarding building experience for car lovers and LEGO fans alike.
Niels Henrik Horsted, Marketing Director at the LEGO Group, said: “With every LEGO element, children can build anything they can imagine. I’m very excited about this new model – a truly impressive job done by our LEGO Group designers. Together with Land Rover, we’ve blended elements, design and innovative engineering into a set that shows the boundless creativity of LEGO play, and that with LEGO Technic you can build for real.”
The Above and Beyond collection
Inspired by the durability and capability of New Defender, the Above and Beyond collection of men’s and women’s performance clothing and technical equipment incorporates 50 years of Musto heritage in world-leading performance clothing.
Innovations in the collection include the Welded Thermo jacket with RECCO integrated reflective antenna to help rescue teams locate you in difficult terrain. The jacket also features PrimaLoft Aerogel-lined pockets that help keep mobile phones charged for longer.
The Rodinia hybrid jacket has YKK Quickburst zip technology to transform it into a gilet in seconds. It also features PrimaLoft Black Eco insulation – a lightweight alternative to down layers that doesn’t compromise warmth, comfort or flexibility.
Joe Sinclair, Jaguar Land Rover Director of Branded Goods and Licensing, said: “The New Land Rover Defender is pushing the boundaries of automotive design, and we took this as inspiration to work with Musto to create our most advanced, technical and capable performance collection yet. Our ambition was to launch a specialist range of clothing and equipment that united the world-class capabilities of the Defender with our customers’ thirst for adventure.”
Paul Stoneham, Musto Executive Chairman, said: “Designing technical performance clothing is at the very core of our expertise at Musto and this partnership with Land Rover brings together two innovative British brands, both with a strong heritage. The Above and Beyond collection will provide adventurers of all types with the protection on the outside that will allow them to perform at their very best from the inside thanks to the state-of-the-art material technology, durability and comfort of the range.”
The collection also includes tough flasks and bottles, a pen engineered to go to extremes and a unique activity belt with an ANSI COBRA buckle and ultra-robust webbing with a 6,000kg tensile strength.
