The new generation of the CLS sets the bar higher by matching the model’s distinctive shape and captivating appeal with enhanced comfort and technology features.
With its introduction in 2004, the CLS introduced the four-door coupé segment with an iconic shape that reshaped cars for a new era. The CLS broke new ground by fusing the elegance and dynamism of a coupé with the comfort and functionality of a sedan. The third generation seamlessly connects every unique element of the CLS and elevates it by setting new standards in design, safety and technology.
Exterior: A designer’s passion
The new CLS AMG reasserts its credentials as a design icon as it becomes the first Mercedes-Benz model to fully embrace the design philosophy of sensual purity. The result: a timeless fusion of emotion, elegant beauty and exquisite comfort.
The side design is characterized by the high, arching waistline and sporty frameless side windows. The sharpened front end is reminiscent of a shark's nose and appears longer thanks to the fully inset bonnet. The contours again follow the design philosophy of sensual purity: lines and edges are greatly reduced, and the surfaces are generously arched.
Interior: Driving desire
The finely crafted interior of the CLS AMG Coupé impresses with its clear basic lines, and echoes the sensual, flowing contours of the exterior. For a graceful overall impression, the design makes a wave-like progression from the front to the rear door and opens out at the B-pillar. The cabin blends exclusive materials and finishes with striking design elements including ambient lighting and illuminated, turbine-style air vents. A high-resolution Widescreen cockpit will be available for the new CLS, with two 12.3-inch displays arranged beneath a shared, continuous glass cover.
The optional ENERGIZING Comfort Control offers up to six programs which intelligently bundle rejuvenating programs of sound, lighting, seating and climate comfort into a coordinated package.
PERFORMANCE: Igniting power with passion
The third generation of CLS is powered by completely new engines, with in-line four and six-cylinder petrol units. Also characteristic of the four-door coupé is the extensive range of 4MATIC models.
Under the iconic star awaits a thrilling experience. The CLS finds many ways to move you - the CLS 350 is powered by a M264 L4 engine, while the CLS 450 4MATIC and CLS 53 4MATIC+ are powered by the completely new M256 L6 engine, which stand for dynamism and a sporty driving experience.
Overall, the new in-line six-cylinder engine offered on the CLS 450 4MATIC and CLS 53 4MATIC+ delivers the performance of an eight-cylinder engine with significantly lower consumption.
TECHNOLOGY
The striking exterior features of the new CLS AMG fully embody the Mercedes-Benz design language of sensual purity. The completely redesigned interior offers an oasis of tranquility with intuitive and user-friendly technology, safety and comfort features that are designed to keep you engaged, connected and in charge.
Active Parking Assist with 360-degree camera supports the driver in searching for a parking space and when entering or leaving parallel or end-on parking spaces. In conjunction with Blind Spot Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert can warn the driver of cross traffic when reversing out of end-on parking spaces and can also initiate automatic braking if necessary. The information is presented clearly in full HD in a choice of different views in the central display of the multimedia system.

The touchpad provides for a user experience par excellence with intuitive control of the functions of the multimedia system with one or two-finger movements. It’s the perfect complement to both the voice control function and the Controller as input options and is integrated into the handrest for seamless use.
New generation multifunction steering wheel
The multifunction steering wheel in the CLS Coupé is a visual, tactile and ergonomic highlight. Integrated control panel and Touch Control buttons increase driving comfort and operating safety.
KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package offers an array of convenient means of entry into the vehicle. With the KEYLESS-GO starting function the engine can be started and stopped by simply pressing the start-stop button or by touching the brake pedal.
The boot lid can also either be opened and closed via the remote-control buttons of the key or via the remote trunk closing function. HANDS-FREE ACCESS is a further convenience function. With a kicking motion beneath the rear bumper, the boot lid can be automatically opened and closed.
Proactive protector: safety and driving assistance systems
The standard Lane Tracking Package includes a range of highly intelligent features designed to keep passengers safe on the road. Its features include Blind Spot Assist, Active Braking Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist.
The optional Driving Assistance Package elevates the car to the safest driving experience available. It offers the driver Active Distance Control DISTRONIC, Active Steering Assist, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Brake Assist with cross-traffic function, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist and PRE-SAFE® PLUS. The Driving Assistance Package Plus additionally includes PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side which nudges the front passengers sideways to brace them from side impact and reduce the risk of injury.
MULTIBEAM LED
MULTIBEAM LED enables quick, precise adjustment of the headlamps to the current road and traffic conditions. The light can always be switched on precisely where it is required via individually controllable LEDs. This technology sets new standards in terms of both design and function.
Multi-chamber air suspension AIR BODY CONTROL
The AIR BODY CONTROL, available as an option, gives the driver air suspension with an improved and adjustable and adaptive damping system. The air suspension system combines with continuously adjustable damping to ensure a very high standard of ride comfort and driving dynamics. The damping at each wheel is adapted to the current driving situation, and can be set for more comfortable or sporty characteristics as required.
