Qatar Car Award is a yearly special edition and ceremony organised by Maqina & Arab Motors magazines – two of the most influential voices in Qatar’s automotive media. The awards celebrate automotive achievement after putting most of the vehicles in Qatar into their own paces and crowning the best. The Maserati Ghibli left a lasting impression on the jury with its high-powered luxury and peerless comfort, rightly securing the first place in the luxury sport sedan category.
Among the myriad factors that judges took into consideration, the Ghibli’s singular style won accolades at first glance. Its dynamically sculpted curves andgracefully flowing lines create a striking coupe look. In true Maserati grand touring tradition, the cabin is characterised by elegant Italian style, handcrafted finishes and perfectly organised, generously proportioned design.
When it comes to performance, the Ghibli is a car imbued with a venerated motor racing DNA. The twin turbocharged V6 engines provide an unparalleled ability to cover long distances at dynamic yet refined high speed. The V6 delivers 350 hp at 5,500 rpm and 500 Nm of torque between 4,500 and 5,000 rpm, with a terrific sprint to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 267 km/h.
The award also exulted the car’s innovative precedence. The sedan’s Q4 intelligent all-wheel drive system provides perfectly balanced Maserati driving dynamics and optimal fuel consumption. The interior of the Ghibli is built around a driver interface that is intuitive and simple to use. The instrument cluster features large analogue gauges for the tachometer and speedometer, alongside a 7” TFT display. Furthermore, the 8.4” Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC+) unit is designed to help the driver maintain focus on the road ahead and mastering it is intuitive and easy.
The luxury sedan promises an even greater peace of mind with an impressively comprehensive range of advanced driving assistance systems such as highway assist, lane departure, adaptive cruise control and a surround view camera among a host of other high-tech features. Judges also took note of the full 5-star EURO NCAP rating that underscores the seal of safety, mile after mile.
