ErreErre Fuoriserie announces the birth of a new exclusive and ambitious automotive project, dedicated to Giotto Bizzarrini: ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto.

ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto is not a restomod, it is not a retromod, it is a RetroVision. It perfectly combines the idea of inspiration from the past (Retro) with that of a project imagined but never realized (Vision).

INTRODUCTION

Some dreams never end. They may change slightly and become enriched with additional details. If they are beautiful, it's nice not to let them fade away, and to make them part of ourselves.

Who doesn’t have recurring dreams? Sometimes they come to life, become desires, and the wish to realize them grows and grows.

Desires that draw energy from life experiences, knowledge, friendships, shared work.A dream that becomes reality, to pay tribute to a person who has meant so much in the history of automotive and who deserved more recognition.

A name, a legend: Giotto Bizzarrini. An engineer, a straightforward man who always pursued his goals without compromise.

ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto was born to fill an empty space: that of a car conceived, desired, and never built, to reward the genius of its creator.

THE HISTORY, THE IDEA, THE PROJECT

Giotto Bizzarrini, after leaving Ferrari, in 1962 projected for the Scuderia Serenissima of Count Giovanni Volpi di Misurata, the 250 GT Breadvan, built in collaboration with the Carrozzeria Sports Cars of Piero Drogo.

The Breadvan concept was about developing aerodynamic shapes, more suited to achieving maximum speed performance on the very long Hunaudières straight, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Originally 6.75 km long and today interrupted by two chicanes, this famous straight, known to all racing enthusiasts, allowed speeds to exceed 300 km/h in the 1960s, reaching the official record of 407 km/h set in the race in 1988, of course before the track was modified

Giotto Bizzarrini's activities at the time were manifold, and he also devoted himself to engine design, creating a 3.5-liter twelve-cylinder that was sold to Lamborghini for the 350 GT.

Meanwhile, he began collaborating with Renzo Rivolta, and from this partnership in 1963 were born the Iso Grifo A3/L (Lusso) and A3/C (Corsa), presented at the Turin Motor Show in the Bertone booth (the A3/L) and the Iso Rivolta booth (the A3/C), respectively.

The project was by Bizzarrini, while the style was by Bertone, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro; the A3/C was built at the Carrozzeria Sports Cars Drogo in Modena and is the racing version of the A3/L, which was instead produced in Bresso at the Iso Rivolta facilities.

The A3/C is Giotto Bizzarrini's favorite creation, to which he dedicated himself to develop it for racing at Le Mans.In 1964, the collaboration with Rivolta ended, and Bizzarrini founded Prototipi Bizzarrini, later becoming Bizzarrini SpA.

In 1965 he presented the 5300 GT Strada that inherits the legacy of the Iso A3/C and continues its story.

WHAT IS A BREADVAN

A "breadvan car" or "camionnette" in French, because it seems the term originated precisely in Le Mans, is a sports car modified with a special body, characterized by an elongated and truncated rear, resembling the shape of a bread delivery van (hence "breadvan").This aerodynamic solution is the result of studies carried out by the German engineer Wunibald Kamm in the 1930s. It is characterized by sides that are sharply truncated at the rear with a perpendicular closure to the ground.

The most famous example already mentioned, is that of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB purchased used by Count Volpi di Misurata, owner of the Scuderia Serenissima, who hired Giotto Bizzarrini to modify it and transform it into the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Breadvan, with the assistance of Piero Drogo's Carrozzeria Sports Cars.

Bizzarrini had understood that the rear part is very important for the aerodynamics of a racing car and controls both drag and the vertical load, which today we call "downforce". In the '60s, rather than direct "downforce", the focus was on reducing the lift exerted by the air, because in the absence of rear wings, spoilers and other lifting-down aerodynamic appendages and ground effect, not yet discovered, cars were still prone to lift: that is, the air tended to raise them at high speeds, especially at the front. If the car's rear is raised, the upward lift is significantly reduced

GIANLUCA RUBATTO, THE FOUNDER OF ErreErre Fuoriserie

"With ForGiotto we wanted to create something that didn't exist, but could have existed, if Bizzarrini's dream had still had a chapter to be written. It's an act of love, a dialogue between generations of creators, a way to thank the genius of a man who taught us that aerodynamics can be romantic".

FABRIZIO ROSSINI AND THE APPRENTICESHIP WITH BIZZARRINI

Times passes since the creation of the Breadvan, and Bizzarrini's story continues with a thousand facets.

A young design student from Turin, viscerally passionate about cars, admires Bizzarrini and wants to learn from him. He contacts him and persistently asks to be able to work together. The engineer is skeptical; many have already made this request, but without the necessary motivation and dedication.

Rossini, however, ultimately overcomes the great Master's mistrust, who recognizes his seriousness and iron will to learn. He achieves his goal when he parks his caravan in front of the engineer's house: Bizzarrini is impressed and gives his final approval.

This young man is named Fabrizio Rossini, and from 1996 to 2001 he worked in Livorno, managing to continue his studies as well.

With Bizzarrini, he learned to build a car from scratch, starting with the selection of components, even making them directly himself. He has a 360° perspective, which is not only that of a designer, but of a project leader capable of understanding engineering needs, reconciling stylistic requirements with mechanical ones.

Those years are associated with many anecdotes and personal memories, but speaking of work, a project that Bizzarrini would have liked to pursue, but could not due to time and budget constraints, would have been to apply the Breadvan concept to his A3/C, enhancing its aerodynamics. This is what Bizzarrini confided to Rossini, and this is the challenge that ErreErre Fuoriserie, in collaboration with Iso Restorations, has taken on: to bring to life the ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto, a pure tribute to Giotto Bizzarrini and that dream that until now remained unrealized.

Let us allow Fabrizio Rossini's own words to tell this story.

“I still remember, now thirty years ago, how convinced Giotto was of the importance of aerodynamics. He passionately told me that, in the years to come, all car manufacturers would have to deal not only with engine power but also with the weight of the vehicles and, above all, with shape and aerodynamic efficiency”.

“He talked to me about the ’60s, about how Italy was at the forefront of the automotive world, about meetings with extraordinary people, successes and failures, dreams realized and those left in the drawer. It was impossible to listen to him and work with him without falling in love with this world, without learning to dream as he had at my age, and without believing that sooner or later dreams can come true”.

“For a long time I have proudly kept what Giotto taught me, and with even greater discretion I have kept his dreams. Today it seems right to me to open that drawer and pay tribute to his genius”.

“I can only try to get close to his quality, I can only set to work as he would have known how to do. But one thing I am certain of, because he often repeated it to me: “Try, fail, and try again. It is always worth more than never having tried at all”.

Today Fabrizio Rossini is an established professional. In addition to his commitment with ErreErre Fuoriserie, he combines his passion for cars, design, and art, creating projects for important international clients, merging creativity with contemporary technologies.

THE DESIGN OF THE ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto

The exterior is characterized by a sleek and very clean line, with a perfect balance between sportiness, fluidity, and aerodynamics, highlighted by the elegant metallic paint. The extreme attention to detail is already noticeable in the front, very tapered, with the round ErreErre logo and the distinctive hood air intake connected to the large radiator. The side view is very slender and elegant, distinguished by the wheels with the typical branded ErreErre hub nut, a solution used on racing cars of the past; the central number plate only emphasizes this vocation. The prominent side air intake in front of the door, helps optimize the exit flow of hot air and adds extra character. The large fairing bears the ForGiotto signature on the sides. The truncated tail has a harmoniously rounded lower shape, also for aerodynamic purposes, to channel air away from the underside of the car. It integrates perfectly with the exhaust pipes, the two classic round headlights, and the ErreErre lettering.“If you look at the rear fairing from the front and above, it stands out how perfectly it fits over the rear fenders” - says Rossini. The renders by Mattia Orza perfectly reveal the car's lines in detail.

The interior of the ErreEffre Fuoriserie ForGiotto is essential, clearly racing-inspired, just as Bizzarrini always wanted for his cars, yet at the same time sober, elegant, comfortable, and finished with fine leather. The three-spoke wooden steering wheel overlooks a strictly analog instrumentation panel embedded in the aluminum dashboard matching the body color. It includes the two classic primary round gauges, the speedometer and tachometer, and the other indicators, also round but smaller, equally clear and easy to read: oil pressure, oil level, water level, fuel level.Completing the set are the control levers, other operation switches, and the central tunnel with gear lever and the classic handbrake. The rear window opens outward, from bottom to top; the rear area can remain raw in aluminum or be covered in leather or Alcantara®, with wooden or chrome strips, and can be used as a luggage compartment. The customer can customize the interior as they wish, starting with the choice of leather seats or other fine materials. In this case, to match the body paint, ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto chose the classic “Cuoio” leather, typical of racing seats of that era.

THE DNA OF ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto

ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto aims to bring to life a car that was never built, thus starting a collaboration with Iso Restorations (www.isorestorations.com), a company that at the time acquired the entire stock of Iso Rivolta spare parts, following its closure in 1974.For this reason, the mechanical base of the car that Bizzarrini originally wanted to modify into a Breadvan - the Iso A3/C - was specifically chosen.ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto can be ordered using the original frames and spare parts that remain available and were previously authorized at that time by the owners, up to a maximum of 5 units; alternatively, the customer may choose to order it using updated and improved parts, creating a completely new car.

Beneath the elegant bodywork of the ForGiotto, entirely hand-beaten aluminum handcrafted by skilled battilastra artisans, finds its place the heart of the car, also dating back to the era when the A3/C was born. Namely the Chevrolet V8 "small block" 327 with 5,358 cc, with power ranging from 300 to over 400 HP; the main engine of almost all Giotto Bizzarrini cars. It is fed by a four-barrel carburetor. The gearbox is a 4-speed Borg-Warner, with the possibility of choosing the ratios at the axle. The ForGiotto weighs around 1,200 kg, and the power-to-weight ratio combined with its unique aerodynamic shape allows it to reach a top speed of over 250 km/h.The tires also remain similar in size to the originals, with 15-inch wheels. The length is about 4,369 mm, the width about 1,730 mm, the height about 1,110 mm, and it has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.Clearly, the ForGiotto is designed to travel on regular roads as well as on the track, and above all to thrill!Every ErreErre Fuoriserie ForGiotto is handcrafted with bespoke quality standards, ensuring meticulous attention to every detail. The car is presented in a refined and sleek “Azzurro Nuvola” metallic livery, the latter shade characterizing all new models from the Turin-based “maison”.Each car is conceived with the ambition of creating a work of art to admire and drive, with extensive customization options available through the excellent state-of-the-art configurator, offering a limitless tailor-made experience.

The delivery of the first model is scheduled after August 2026. The price of the ForGiotto starts from 690,000 Euros + VAT, including the A3/C from Iso Restorations.

ErreErre Fuoriserie - THE STORY

ErreErre correct pronunciation is DoubleR, from Rubatto-Rossini.  Fuoriserie means high performance special cars produced in very limited series, with tailor made specifications.ErreErre Fuoriserie was founded in Turin in 2021, it was established by Gianluca Rubatto, together with his father Luca Rubatto - who has an entrepreneurial background in precision metalworking - and Fabrizio Rossini. The Company's main goal is to combine Italian craftsmanship with the most modern design and construction techniques, producing creations that stand out from all others.Ambition, boldness and admiration for cars that “no longer exist”, true masterpieces of design, dynamism, and elegance, gave rise to an entrepreneurial project capable of astonishing. To evolve a stylistic path now rooted in the hearts of so-called “petrolheads”, enthusiasts without limits. The Company handles the creation from A to Z of one-off and few-off projects to satisfy the desires of every client, including on commission.

GIULIA CLASSIC AND ALLEGGERITA

It all starts with an idea: to combine retro “charme” with modern performance. The Giulia Quadrifoglio is one of the few modern cars capable of perfectly embodying the ErreErre Fuoriserie philosophy, which is to have a perfect balance between performance and style.“In an era where all seems monotonous. In a world in need of personality. Iconic automotive forms resurrect. Standing out is the only real ambition”, says Gianluca Rubatto.

The first ErreErre Fuoriserie project is the Giulia Classic, presented in July 2022, as a tribute to the 1962 Tipo 105 Sedan, based on the modern Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. The first example of a “retromod”, a neologism coined by ErreErre Fuoriserie: when a modern car is radically transformed to pay homage to a famous model from the past.A "fuoriserie" homologated for road use, because the Giulia Classic meets the same standards as the production model, as the safety cell remains unchanged.

From the Classic comes the two-seater Alleggerita version, also this one with a carbon fiber body, unveiled in September 2024 at the Torino Auto Show. If in 1962, lightness required the use of aluminum, today this goal is achieved with carbon fiber, which ensures high performance and greater rigidity.Aesthetically, the car revives a livery reminiscent of Alfa Romeo's glorious past. A clear nod to the world of retro racing. In the lower part of the front bumper, new Venturi ducts are present to optimize the cooling of the 562 HP V6.The rear seat has been removed in favor of a carbon fiber compartment, masterfully upholstered in Alcantara® by the artisans of Sifral S.r.l.Only two seats, with a central housing specifically for the fire extinguisher and two cradles to hold the clients' helmets. One of the options available for this specific configuration is the rear rollbar, which can be painted in the body color. The forged wheel has been designed by ErreErre Fuoriserie and created from his own designs, to faithfully replicate the production model of the historic 1962 Giulia “Tipo 105”.It took more than 5,000 hours of work  to best combine state-of-the-art style with technical feasibility, while keeping the entire safety cell unchanged, so as not to compromise structural integrity. The Classic and Alleggerita models will be produced in a maximum of 33 units, with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio donor car provided by the customer.

ISO RESTORATIONS, THE PARTNER

Roberto Negri worked in the late '60s and early '70s at Iso Rivolta, first in the technical office and then as a test driver, and today he heads Iso Restorations. When Iso Rivolta closed its doors in 1974, Roberto Negri became the owner of the spare parts warehouse and the legitimate successor of the brand’s tradition. The vast inventory includes all original spare parts, including chassis, body panels, glasses, engines, technical drawings, and more. Other details such as lights, instruments, front and rear suspensions, and even the Campagnolo elektron wheels with original numbering.Roberto Negri founded Iso Restorations and since then, now assisted by his son Federico, he has been the only official supplier of Iso and Bizzarrini spare parts, brands linked because they share more than 90% of components.Over all these years, Iso Restorations has continued to supply parts to Iso and Bizzarrini cars around the world, also taking care of the maintenance of many of them. Several cars have been restored with great skill and incredible forty-year experience of the company's team of specialists, all former Iso employees, who work on each car with passion and extensive knowledge. The cars are restored correctly 100% thanks to the use of original drawings and adherence to the original features. All parts used are original and consistent with the era of the car’s production.Iso Restorations owns all the original Iso equipment necessary for a perfect and authentic restoration; all the original specification sheets that indicate the unique features of each individual Iso; the original drawings that show the dimensions and proportions of each Iso model; all the paint codes for each individual car; knowledge of the original painting technique to be able to replicate it today with modern paints; knowledge of the materials (leathers, upholstery, insulation, etc.) that can ensure the interiors of restored Iso achieve the highest standards of finish and refinement.Iso Restorations is also capable of producing an original reconstruction of the legendary 1963/64 A3/C. Engineer Piero Rivolta gave his approval for them to be officially called Iso Rivolta A3/C. They are provided with original Iso chassis numbers derived from the cars that supplied the necessary original parts.Iso Restorations is the most authentic Iso workshop Iso in the world.

The combination of skills that Turin's 'automotive valley' can offer to Italy, is an important asset to ensure that the national automotive industry can once again be a leader in a sector where Italy has always excelled. That is, in design, research, engineering, from prototyping to the production of high-performance and innovative production and competition cars. Also with niche projects of very high technological content, targeting the luxury market, because the “renaissance” of the third-millennium automotive hub today, passes mainly through these exclusive insights, rather than through mass production on a large scale, which seems to have taken a very different direction. This Turin automotive hub, a symbol of Italian skills, hard work, and inventiveness in general, already exists, it just needs support, and it represents hundreds of thousands of workers.
