Maqina's Interview with Qatar Spokesperson: Omar Al-Zubaidi, Head of Genesis Middle East & Africa

1. First of all, we would like to congratulate you on the successful launch of the all-new second generation of the luxury sedan Genesis G90 in the Middle East. How will the new car serve the marketing objectives of Genesis in the Arab Region overall, and in the State of Qatar in particular?

The growth rate of Genesis in the GCC is up 73% (September 2022) in comparison to last year, showcasing the importance of the Middle East market to the brand.

The launch of the Genesis G90 was essential in helping us to expand the brand footprint in the region – and in ensuring that we’re bringing our customers in the region the latest Genesis technology, design, safety and innovation.

The Genesis G90 has been well received in markets across the globe, and we’re confident that the regional launch of The G90 will further enhance Genesis’ position as a leader in the Middle East market.

2. If we compare the position of Genesis with its competitors in the Middle East, are you satisfied how the luxury Korean brands are positioned in the MENA markets? Whether in terms of pricing, the diversity of models, or even the overall performance of the luxury brand as a whole.

As a brand there are three essential pillars that hold true for everything that we do. We are audacious, progressive and distinctively Korean. Our Korean heritage teaches us to be humble, to respect our craft and those who came before us, but also to be bold, to challenge the status quo, and that no detail is too small to be worth paying attention to.

Genesis is very well positioned in the luxury market, and what complements our existing strengths is our “Son-Nim” philosophy which is highly customer-centric and aims to deliver a distinct experience where our customers are treated as our guests. With every Genesis delivered, our customers benefit from a concierge service for 2 years.

3. Will we see independent showrooms and service centres only for Genesis soon? Not being included with the parent company Hyundai.

To date, we have successfully opened four standalone Genesis showrooms in the region, the first of which opened in Bahrain during 2021, followed by the second in Jeddah, KSA earlier this year. Two more showrooms were recently inaugurated in Muscat, Oman and Dubai, UAE along with a Genesis dedicated service centre in Kuwait. These will be followed by at least seven new standalone Genesis-dedicated facilities slated over the next two years.

The opening of dedicated Genesis facilities is in line with the major growth that the brand has achieved in recent years and a reflection of the demand for Genesis throughout the region. More importantly, our customers are the core, and creating the right infrastructure is essential for an unrivalled luxury experience.
