Maserati’s second-ever SUV brings elegance, innovative tech, and blistering performance to the road




Maserati unveiled its second SUV, the Grecale, earlier this year as the Italian brand's first compact crossover. The Grecale is the perfect synthesis of stellar performance, timeless design, and innovative technology.


Named after the Mediterranean wind that blows from the north-east, the 2023 Maserati Grecale will be available in three trim levels: GT, Modena, and the range-topping Trofeo.


Both the GT and Modena variants share the same turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain, but in two different tuning levels, delivering 300 hp and 330 hp, respectively. The two models also produce the same peak torque figure of 450 Nm. The mild-hybrid powertrain enables the compact luxury SUV to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds for the GT grade and 5.3 seconds for the Modena variant, before hitting a top speed of 240 km/h in both models.





Additionally, the top-of-the-range Grecale Trofeo features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine, producing 530 hp and 620 Nm of torque. Heavily inspired by Formula One, the six-cylinder Nettuno engine can push the performance-oriented Grecale variant from zero to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 285 km/h. The ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are also standard across the range.


Sitting below the larger Levante, the new Maserati Grecale has an overall length of 4859 mm and measures 1979 mm and 1659 mm in width and height, respectively. Maserati’s first compact SUV also has a generous wheelbase of 2910 mm. These dimensions are more than enough to support five seats.


Visually, the 2023 Grecale is unmistakably a Maserati, thanks to its unique front grille, traditional side gills, and the Trident logo on the C-pillar. The rear, however, is more distinguished, featuring two slimmer “boomerang-like” taillights inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT.





Moving to the interior, it is in a league of its own for a Maserati. Maserati's Intelligent Assistant (MIA) infotainment system, operated via two screens, dominates the dashboard. The central screen is a 12.3-inch panel—the largest ever seen in a Maserati—while a smaller 8.8-inch comfort display sits beneath it.


Aside from the 21-speaker Sonus Faber audio system with 3D sound, the Grecale has five configurable drive modes: Comfort, GT, Sport, Corsa (Trofeo only), and Off-Road, allowing you to switch from calm and comfortable to fast and responsive easily.
